Dear Wonderful Human:

It’s been ages since sharing on the blog. Months! A year? Gosh, I’ve missed you. I’ve learned some things and grown a lot. And I’m ready to start sharing again.

Before I bring you into my world, you’ll notice my shift from self care to mindfulness. Why? This gentle pivot allows me/us to explore a broader picture. It just sort of… unfolded. I realized the importance of intention in my life and in the messages I share. Whether traveling the world, making major life changes, or simply striving to be a better version of myself, what’s been my common denominator?

Mindfulness. Ok, chocolate and mindfulness.

I’m not one for flowery language so I’m keeping things simple and practical. Mindfulness is so much more than meditation, and I want to teach you simple ideas and techniques that you can apply to your routines, workflow, and lifestyle—immediately. The focus is on making subtle shifts that will help you recognize your values and priorities and then live in alignment with them.

So that’s what I want to start unpacking and delving into. The aim (for me, anyway) is to live with intention, gain self-awareness and empowerment, and find personal fulfillment. This is my wish for myself and everyone I know. I’m so excited about this “goal” that I redesigned this website to focus on it (what d’ya think of the new look?).

Moving forward, these blog posts will centre on this focus and will follow 3 P’s:

Purposeful

I’ll keep things meaningful by sharing insights and stories or exploring your questions.

Personal

Everything I share is adaptable so that it can fit into your needs, wants, priorities, and lifestyle.

Practical

I translate what I share into simple steps to help you start today and cultivate healthy habits.

They’ll also be more personal and (eek!) vulnerable. If you have questions, comments, or want to say, “Hi, Melissa! Thanks for being open and vulnerable when it can be scary!” please feel free to comment below, connect on social media, or send me an email. It’s terrifying to be vulnerable, but Brené Brown says I should…so here we go! Support is always appreciated.

And since we’re on vulnerability, I wrote a year-by-year summary from 2011 to present re: lessons, struggles, epiphanies, and major life changes I’ve made… mindfully, of course. You can read it here on my about page. Then email me with your love and support!

You can also click here to check out how I’m teaching mindfulness and how we can work together. I’ll share more on this soon because I’ve been teaching workshops for all kinds of people lately—from ages 15 to 85! It’s awesome, and it totally lights me up.

ONE MORE THING because I’m excited and proud and being vulnerable… I finished writing my first book!!! It’s on practical mindfulness, and it’s chock-full of simple, everyday exercises for mindful living. It’s already been edited and sent to publishers so stay tuned!

I’ll leave it there for today. Lots more to come!

With love,
—Melissa

P.S. I really value that you’re here. I can feel your support already, and I just want you to know that, however your day/week/year is going, I appreciate you.
